Gabbard proposes new veterans mental health care initiatives
WASHINGTON – On this Veterans Day, U.S. Rep. Tulsi Gabbard is introducing new legislation aiming to improve mental health care for American veterans.
Gabbard (D-Hawaii) has three new bills in Congress over the last week. One of them builds upon a Defense Department program known as the REACH-VET initiative. Her bill is known as the Recovery Engagement and Coordination for Health-Military Innovations for Life Act (REACH MIL Act),which would require the DoD tooffer pre-emptive care and support for service members who are at high risk of suicide.
